La Procuradur\u00eda Federal de Protecci\u00f3n al Ambiente (Profepa) liber\u00f3 17 ejemplares de iguana verde (<\/strong>Iguana iguana<\/strong><\/em>) en Acapulco de Ju\u00e1rez, Guerrero<\/strong>, luego de que fueran entregados voluntariamente por autoridades de protecci\u00f3n animal de dos municipios de Quer\u00e9taro.<\/p>\n

Los reptiles fueron recibidos por el Instituto Municipal de Protecci\u00f3n Animal de El Marqu\u00e9s<\/strong> y la Direcci\u00f3n de Cuidado, Protecci\u00f3n y Control Animal de San Juan del R\u00edo<\/strong>, que posteriormente los pusieron a disposici\u00f3n de la representaci\u00f3n de la Profepa en Quer\u00e9taro para su valoraci\u00f3n y reubicaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

La autoridad ambiental determin\u00f3 que las iguanas no deb\u00edan ser liberadas en Quer\u00e9taro, debido a que la especie no se distribuye naturalmente en el estado<\/strong>. Su introducci\u00f3n en un entorno ajeno a su distribuci\u00f3n podr\u00eda provocar un desequilibrio ecol\u00f3gico y favorecer el desplazamiento de especies nativas.<\/p>\n

Por esta raz\u00f3n, los 17 ejemplares fueron trasladados al Arroyo Colacho, ubicado en la zona Diamante de Acapulco<\/strong>, un sitio que forma parte de la regi\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica hist\u00f3rica de la especie y que cuenta con condiciones clim\u00e1ticas y ecosist\u00e9micas adecuadas para su desarrollo, reproducci\u00f3n y establecimiento.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, la Profepa record\u00f3 que la iguana verde est\u00e1 incluida en la categor\u00eda de Sujeta a Protecci\u00f3n Especial dentro de la Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010<\/strong>. Esta clasificaci\u00f3n indica que la especie podr\u00eda llegar a encontrarse amenazada por factores que afecten su viabilidad, por lo que es necesario impulsar la recuperaci\u00f3n y conservaci\u00f3n de sus poblaciones.<\/p>\n
